How to get from Florence Airport to the city center
1. Tram, the best way to get from Florence Airport to the city center (fast, easy, and budget-friendly)
Hands down, the easiest and most convenient way to get from Florence Airport into the city is by taking Tram Line T2.
The tram stop, “Peretola – Aeroporto,” is just a 2-minute walk from the arrivals and departures area, so you can be on your way within minutes of leaving the terminal.
For only €1.70, the tram takes you straight to Piazza dell’Unità Italiana, right in front of Santa Maria Novella train station, one of the most central and well-connected spots in Florence.
Tickets can be purchased at the machines or via the TABNET app, which is super handy if you prefer to sort things out on your phone.
The journey takes around 20 minutes, and trams run from 5:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., with extended service until 2:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights—great if you’re arriving late.
Good to know about luggage:
Oversized luggage over 20 kg is not allowed. You can bring one piece of luggage for free, with a maximum weight of 10 kg and maximum dimensions of 55 × 40 × 20 cm.
